Fourteen children injured as heating duct collapses in school
Fourteen pupils were today injured (four seriously) when heating duct collapsed on them whilst they were sitting an exam. The four suffered serious head, neck or back injuries during the incident at Minster College, on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent.
Pupils told how their friends were pinned under the heavy metal ducting, but classmates could not pull them clear because it was too hot. The ambulance service sent 11 vehicles to the scene, and a helicopter.
A brief HSE statement on the incident has been published. The cause of the incident is not known at this stage.
