Device to secure safety in use of semi-automatic quick hitches
Quick Switch (UK) manufacture and supply a safety warning device for use with excavator semi-automatic quick hitches.
The system addresses the danger that an excavator operator will omit to insert the securing pin. The device is said to be retro-fittable to almost all semi automatic hitches in use in the UK.
The supplier sees the device as a cost effective alternative to replacing perfectly serviceable semi automatic hitches and states that fully automatic quick hitches are not without drawbacks.
It is argued that “combination of the tried and tested reliability of the semi-automatic quick hitch, together with our innovative and unique system, offers the best of both worlds.”
Comment: Semi-automatic quick hitches are legal to use and there are many in use across GB. This looks like a cost effective contribution to meeting the HSE guidance on quick hitches and improving safety in the use of excavators.
