Crown court set to hear crane double fatality case
Two workmen died when a tower crane collapsed on a construction project in Worthing, West Sussex, in February 2005. We understand that WD Bennett’s Plant and Services and Eurolift (Tower Cranes) Ltd are now to face allegations relating to the incident. It is anticipated that the trial will start during week commencing 6 March 2009 and last two weeks.
Comment: This tragic tower incident was first of a number of recent incidents that led to work by regulators and industry bodies to raise standards and safety during tower crane erection, use, dismantling, inspection and examination.
