Workman crushed by falling crawler crane jib
A construction worker has been fatally injured in a crane incident on a building site in north west London. The death occurred on Friday 6th March 2009 and witnesses report that the crane collapsed ”into the basement excavation at a property” and the deceased worker was “crushed across the torso by the jib”.
The contractor is said to be Harris Calnan Construction Ltd of London. A spokesman for Pennington Phillips, architects on the development, said: “We do not yet know the full details ourselves at the moment, but this is a tragedy.” Police have not released the name of the victim although the death is being investigated by both Police and HSE.
