BELFAST FALL FROM HEIGHT INQUEST

Death of building contractor could have been prevented

A Belfast Inquest  has heard how the fall of a building contractor could have been prevented by scaffolding. The inquest into the death of  James Raymond Carlisle heard how he died after falling from the first floor of a two storey garage under construction in County Down. The father-of-two fell over 5m and landed at the back of the garage. A pathologist’s report said he suffered a fractured skull and brain injuries, which would have caused a rapid death. Denise Donaghy, a Northern Ireland HSE inspector gave evidence that the death of Mr Carlisle who was the owner of the building company “could have easily been prevented had scaffolding been installed.”
