Handling of panel products to come under HSE scrutiny

In 2009 HSE will be aiming to encourage the handling of panel products e.g. plasterboard, with mechanical lifting aids. The November 2008 meeting of the Construction Industry Advisory Committee (CONIAC) was informed that a new HSE coordinator has started work on this project and that a ’Stakeholder Forum’ meeting is due to be held in March 2009.

Comment: There are a number of devices available that provide for the mechanical lifting of plasterboard etc. A short  video of the Telpro Panellift illustrates the type of device HSE will be encouraging during 2009.
