HSE to shine Christmas lights on CDMC and Client
A series of spot checks are being carried out by HSE construction division throughout December to see how well those involved in construction projects have adapted to the CDM 2007 Regulations. The interventions will involve working with project Clients and CDM Co-ordinators with visits to projects to assess changes to the planning and co-ordination procedures in light of the new regulations.
HSE Construction inspector Dave Charnock said: “Effective CDM Co-ordination is key to reducing the risk of accidents and ill health on site.” He went on to say that HSE will work with the CDM-C’s to ensure “that their role is robust and effective in ensuring safe design, adequate planning and in challenging unhelpful bureaucracy. The inspection visits will focus particularly on refurbishment projects, and the management of risks associated with work at height, asbestos and also those hazards with the potential to cause multiple injuries such as fire and structural collapse.”
